Description

Step into the magic of Lake Marion, where every day feels like a chapter in a living adventure. From playful explorative geocache hunts along the Limestone Trail to evenings gathered around the campfire, this trip is designed to bring people together in nature’s embrace. It’s the perfect blend of exploration, relaxation, and camaraderie.

History and wetlands come alive as you wander through the Elloree Heritage Museum and then paddle beneath towering cypress trees in the enchanting Stumphole Swamp. These moments connect you to both the past and the natural beauty of the present, offering experiences that are as meaningful as they are memorable.

The highlight of the journey is a reflectivehike to Santee Nat’l Wildlife refuge for a perfect blend of history, heritage, and nature. The day’s adventure will be followed by an unforgettable night under the stars. After the sun sets, you’ll launch into a moonlit paddle timed with the Lyrid meteor shower — a breathtaking spectacle of water, sky, and stargazing that will leave you in awe.

The adventure closes with ghost towns and graveyards. A intriguing paddle to the ghost town of Ferguson will leave you in historical wonder. Learn about the rapid rise and fall of a once bustling lumber town in a historical narration by your guide. Enjoy lunch on the island before embarking to our next stop. A scenice journey through the natural beauty of Lake Marion will land us on Church Island. Where once a church stood and now only a graveyard of the past is left to tell the story.

"Captured on our last Santee trip - Lorraine Hiester, whose joy and spirit continue to inspire us with every adventure."
