Description
This Florida Adventure Trip is designed as a Beginner+ experience with more paddling and a touch of spicy adventure—six nights, five days, and four full days of paddling some of Florida’s most iconic and scenic spring runs. You’ll explore more, see more, and challenge yourself a bit more as we paddle through the Silver River, Rock Springs Run, Chassahowitzka Springs, and the wild, winding Juniper Springs Run.
Join us for our 7th annual journey into the heart of “Old Florida,” where crystal‑clear waters, lush canopies, and abundant wildlife create the backdrop for an unforgettable week. Your home base is a spacious vacation house with a private pool oasis—perfect for unwinding after each day’s adventure. From playful monkeys on the Silver River, the serene coastal charm of the Chassahowitzka, the rich wildlife of Rock Springs Run and the lively twists of the hidden Juniper Springs Run. Each paddle offers something new to discover.
This is a fully serviced, all‑inclusive experience. We handle lodging, shuttles, equipment, park entry fees, and nearly all meals—so you can simply arrive ready to relax, explore, and enjoy. Evenings include poolside social time, and you’ll have a free day to explore local gems like snorkeling with manatees at Crystal River or visit Blue Springs State Park, where wintering manatees gather in impressive numbers.
Accommodations
The home is centrally located to all of our paddling adventure locations. It has 5 roomy bedrooms and 5 baths. It sits on a resort property and offers many ammenities for your downtime leisure. Relax by the private pool at the house or take a short walk to the pickleball courts for a little friendly competition.
Paddle Rock Springs Run
Glide through crystal-clear waters surrounded by lush greenery and vibrant wildlife at Rock Springs in Apopka. As you paddle through this natural wonder, you’ll encounter serene, winding bends and the occasional playful fish darting beneath your kayak. The pristine environment offers an oasis of tranquility, where you can immerse yourself in the beauty of nature. With every stroke of your paddle, you’ll discover hidden gems along the way, from secluded swimming spots to picturesque picnic areas. Kayaking Rock Springs is more than an adventure—it’s a journey through one of Florida’s most enchanting landscapes, promising memories that will last a lifetime.
Paddle Chassahowitzka Springs & Visit to Homosassa
A paddle on the Chassahowitzka feels like drifting through a living mosaic of springs, wildlife, and shifting waters, beginning in the crystal‑blue bowls of Seven Sisters, Crab Creek, and Baird Creek before widening into a wild, winding river alive with birdsong and cypress shadows. Manatees rise beside your kayak like gentle gray shapes, and on the incoming tide dolphins sometimes slip upriver, their fins cutting the surface as the water turns brackish and the air grows salty. By the time you reach the open sweep of the Gulf of America, the Chassahowitzka has carried you from hidden freshwater sanctuaries to the broad, breathing edge of the sea—an unforgettable journey between two worlds.
After the paddle we will load up and head to Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park for an on-foot adventure of exploration and discovery.
Paddle Juniper Springs Run
Juniper Springs Run feels like stepping into a winding, liquid hallway carved through the heart of the Ocala forest—narrow, twisting, and alive with movement. The water is so clear it looks like you’re floating on air, yet the current keeps you alert as it threads you between tight bends, low‑hanging branches, and sudden bursts of sunlight. On A few occasions the river gives you a little jolt of adrenaline: a quick chute of bubbling rapids, a fast‑moving riffle, or a sharp turn that demands a clean stroke to stay in the flow. It’s playful, semi-technical, and thrilling in short bursts, but always wrapped in the beauty of palms, ferns, and ancient oaks leaning over the water like guardians of the run. By the time you drift into the wider, calmer stretch near the end, you feel both energized and enchanted—like you’ve just paddled through one of Florida’s most intimate connections to the primitive world- at time long before us.
Paddle the Silver River
Kayaking the Silver River offers a captivating journey through a pristine natural sanctuary where the possibilities for wildlife encounters are nothing short of extraordinary. Imagine paddling through crystal-clear waters, surrounded by ancient cypress trees and lush vegetation, while the chatter of wild monkeys echoes through the canopy. These playful primates, remnants of a long-lost attraction, can often be seen swinging from branches and curiously observing paddlers. As you glide along, keep an eye out for the gentle giants of the river: manatees. These serene creatures, with their slow, graceful movements, might surface right next to your kayak, offering an unforgettable close-up experience. The Silver River is a magical place where every bend in the river unveils a new surprise, making it a must-visit for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.
Free Day Activities
On your free day in February, immerse yourself in the enchanting natural beauty of Blue Springs State Park, a true winter wonderland for nature enthusiasts. As temperatures drop, the park transforms into a sanctuary for manatees, with these gentle giants arriving in mass numbers to seek refuge in the warm spring waters. Stroll along scenic boardwalks that wind through ancient cypress forests, offering breathtaking views of the pristine spring and its abundant wildlife. Witness the awe-inspiring sight of manatees congregating in large groups, gracefully gliding through the crystal-clear waters. With its serene atmosphere and captivating natural surroundings, Blue Springs State Park provides the perfect escape for a day of relaxation and discovery, allowing you to connect with nature in its most pristine form.
Nestled in the heart of Central Florida, the charming town of Mount Dora offers a delightful escape with its picturesque streets and welcoming atmosphere. Known for its vibrant arts scene and historic charm, Mount Dora invites you to explore its unique boutiques, antique shops, and art galleries that line the downtown area. Stroll along the scenic waterfront, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Dora, or relax in one of the town’s cozy cafes and restaurants. With its beautiful parks and gardens, the town provides plenty of opportunities for outdoor enjoyment. Whether you’re a history buff, an art enthusiast, or simply seeking a peaceful getaway, Mount Dora promises a memorable experience filled with warmth and character.
Please note: Some trips may be changed to a different location based on environmental conditions and other factors. Our goal is to provide the best experience possible for you to enjoy your adventure. Alternate trips may include Weeki Wachee Springs, Ocklawaha, or the Ichetucknee River.
